TOWN OF BARNSTEAD HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT POSITION

The Town of Barnstead (EOE), is seeking qualified applicants for a fulltime Equipment Mechanic and Truck Driver position in the Highway Department. This is a fulltime position with excellent benefits. Applicants must be 18 years or older, at least a high school graduate or equivalent, possess a valid CDL-B license with air-brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one and live within a reasonable travel distance of the Town Garage.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, performing skilled mechanical maintenance, parts replacements and repair work on automotive fleet and other public works vehicles and equipment. Equipment includes cars, dump trucks, loaders, graders, pickup trucks and the like. Operates vehicles and heavy equipment to maintain town roads and property. Assists in manual labor related to public works construction and maintenance and works under general supervision. Minimum requirements include 5 years of progressive experience in a fleet maintenance shop setting as a mechanic, the ability to be available 24/7 during the snowplowing season and emergency situations, and working outdoors under extreme weather conditions.
The selected candidate must successfully complete pre-employment requirements including a physical, drug screen and criminal background search. Pay is commensurate with experience.
