Frances (Jeanne) Eastman

Jeanne has worn many hats over the years in Barnstead.  She was the Town Clerk for sixteen years and the Tax Collector for seventeen years.  She has been a Supervisor of the Checklist for thirty years.  Jeanne was a rural carrier for the Center Barnstead post office for twenty years, before retiring in 1988.  Clients with new babies on Jeanne’s route would find hand-kitted baby clothes in their mailboxes.

At 81 years old, she is still very active in the community.  She is the treasurer for the Barnstead Historical Society and the deputy treasurer for the Barnstead Parade Congregational Church.  She is the clerk of the Riverview Cemetery Association.  She is a member of the Night Hawk Hollows Seniors and of the Comet Club.  She makes hats and booties for the newborns at Concord Hospital.

She and her two daughters, Jeannie Terry and Judy Forsyth, play major roles in the voting process for the town as Supervisors of the Checklist. 

As her daughter, Jeannie, wrote in her nomination letter, “At 81 years old, she runs circles around her family.  She is pretty hard to keep up with.”
